Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2019

In memory of my grandfather, Bramante Ferretti, founder of Sanlorenzo, born and raised in Montalcino. 3 May 1915- 29 October 2016. Brunello di Montalcino Bramante Riserva is produced only in exceptional vintages from a selection of the best grapes. It is aged for more than two years in medium-sized barrels and is released in January of the sixth year following the harvest.

2019 was an exceptional harvest in terms of both quantity and quality. A moderately rainy winter was followed by a warm, dry March and April, and the vines sprouted well and grew quickly. May was very rainy and the plants slowed down their growth, but then in June there was a decisive change of course with two dry, hot months. As a result, the grapes grew well and at the right pace, with veraison beginning in early August and ending in late August. The warm but not too hot weather in September, with some rain, contributed to good ripening, and the harvest took place on 5 and 6 October.
