There’s a moment every year when the vineyard truly awakens. It’s not just about the calendar turning or the temperatures rising. It’s when, walking between the rows, you suddenly notice that life has returned: buds are breaking open, each one pushing out its own shoot, and the vine begins again its ancient, precise rhythm.
At San Lorenzo, our vines are entering the new season full of energy. We’re in the middle of budburst: in our Guyot-trained vineyards, each bud has its own shoot, and each shoot will develop one or two grape clusters.
Likewise, our spurred cordons are already beginning to tell the story of this vintage. Each spur will give rise to two shoots, and from there, little by little, the full architecture of the plant will take shape.
2025 weather season
Spring 2025 brought us generous and well-distributed rainfall, replenishing the groundwater and enriching the soil with the reserves needed for a serene growing season. If summer follows its usual course and remains dry, as it often does in Montalcino, our well-hydrated soils will be able to support the vines without stress, even through the hottest months. It’s one of the best combinations we can hope for: water at the right time, sunshine when it matters. The perfect recipe for a quality vintage.
These days, among the rows, the first tiny grape clusters are already taking shape. They’re still delicate, almost shy—but they’re there. A quiet promise of what’s to come.
Luciano, who leads all the vineyard work with care and precision, keeps a watchful eye on every stage. He knows each plant intimately and reads the subtle signs that nature offers. And this year, that story is off to a very good start.
