Brunello di Montalcino 2010

Sanlorenzo’s finest grapes are devoted to Bramante a very fine Brunello di Montalcino,
the result is a perfect combination of terroir, vineyard and winemaking. It is an incredibly
elegant and intense wine, able to express itself at its best over time. It is vinified in
stainless steel vats at controlled temperature and then aged in wooden barrels .
After bottling the wine ages 4 months before it is released on the market.
After five years Bramante has a great variety in its bouquet and an unique
combination of tastes that unveil with great effect. The colour is dark garnet red,
the wine’s bouquet is generous with hints of dry flowers, spices and ripe fruit.
The wine has a great structure, good tannins of perfect extraction and a long finish.
This Brunello is best paired with game, Fiorentina and Tagliata steak and aged pecorino
cheese. Bramante is released on the market in the February of the 5th year after harvest
in 0,75 and 1,5 l bottles.

DESCRIPTION OF THE HARVEST YEAR

The 2010 vintage was more difficult than previous years. Budding started late because of the cold and the spring rains, which continued during all stages of growth, causing a particular delay in flowering and the closure of the cluster. In July, a heat wave has meant that the vines grow very quickly making up for a week and allowing an early veraison in early August. The month of August brought many rains in the first fortnight slowing the ripening and creating the first onset of mold outbreaks.
This uncertain situation has led to a strong selection of clusters to be sure to have a sustainable load in plants in the event of rain. Fortunately, in September and October we took turns between rainy days and long periods of sunlight, until reaching optimal ripening of the grapes after 10 October and the harvest on 15 and 16 October. It has been a small harvest, about 1/5 less production but good quality, certainly in line with past years.
Date of harvest 15-16 October.

Yield per hectare: 44 quintals of grapes
